Kestral up north of SA in Spring Branch is an interesting stop. A little west of SA in Luling is Old Kingsbury which is a hotbed of restoration and flying of WWI types. Sort of a miniRhinebeck.

Paul,

this list.
Here is a post where he was talking about the airports in the San Antonio
area.
Sending a copy of this to him as well. I believe that he may have some
planes that he gives dual instruction in, so you might be able to get a
flight around the area if he is available. If nothing else you might visit
some of the airports mentioned below and do some "hangar flying" while
there.
Hope this helps...

planes to rent, or cool places to go.
Thanks

In San Antonio area there are 6 that I know of:
1) Heritage Airpark (www.heritageairpark.com) near Seguin, TX is a 3000'+
grass runway (I have a 2 acre runway lot for sale)
2) Zuehl Airpark is also located near Seguin, TX and is an old Air Force
Aux field. Originally asphalt runway, grass has grown up so now it is grass
with an asphalt underlay. Only issue there is the small pebbles that are on
the runway from the asphalt wreak havoc with fabric covered airplanes.
3) Huber Airpark near New Braunfels is a 3000'+ paved runway with runway
lots available.
4) Elm Creek is near Seguin, TX and is a nice 3000'+ established airpark
with a few lots remaining and an occasional hanger/home resale
5) Finally, the nicest from an aesthetic (IMHO) perspective is Kestrel
Airpark (www.kestrelairpark.com) just about 19 miles north of San Antonio in
Spring Branch. They have a 3400' paved (although narrow) runway with runway
lots on which you may build hangars with your house. They also have lots of
interior lots with no runway access. A fair amount of the interior lots are
owned by non-pilots. They also have rental hangars available and
maintenance and fuel on site.
6) West of San Antonio is San Geronimo Airpark, a nice paved runway airport
with runway lots, condo hangars and interior lots all with runway access.
Let me know if I can answer any specific questions you might have.
Best regards,
Brad
