Jim: Here's the link for my oleo strut information:

You'll love your Champ. I used to have a 7BCM and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now I fly a Chief while I restore my Stinson.

Tony: I thought I saw you at Massey Aerodrome today but didn't get a chance
to say hello. When I looked around again you were gone - perhaps one of the
two L-16's I saw flying around in formation. Very nice event today - and
boy, was the food plentiful!

Dear Jim

John Baker has all the info and knowledge about landing gear. The step is
something a welder can make.

Subject: [f-AA] Step and Oleo Questions

Hello All,

Enjoy reading the interesting emails. Two questions for today, hoping for
some guidance. I'm a new owner of a 7BCM that spent the last 40 years of
its life on floats in MN and now it is on wheels in SC. Somewhere along the
way the step (P/N 4-588 from the Service Manual) was lost. I have been
looking but can find one new or used and cannot locate a drawing. (Wonder if
this would fall under "owner made part"?) Next; any information and/or
advise regarding maintenance/repair of the Oleo struts would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Jim
