A good April Fools gag should have some implausibility to it.

oh no...OH NO!!! I fell for it hook, line, and sinker! I was so
embarrassed and ashamed that I had worked for the FAA all those years and
for what they had now done to John, that in my shame I called the
Administrator. I told her that I was too ashamed to any longer collect my
FAA retirement pension and to stop sending it immediately. She was
delighted and said she would certainly do so. So now I will need each of
you to begin sending me reasonable contributions, enough to support my
airplanes and motorcycles....oh yea...my wife says "her too". Just send to
it my PayPal account. We were planning on going out to dinner tonight...if
you could get started quickly please. Thanks. Roger P.S.
Gregg, I hope you didn't resign from the Agency based on you feeling of
shame......and need some contributions also (wink...wink) rog

It is my sad duty to report that Friday this list was served with a
cease and desist order, submitted by lawyers on behalf of the U.S.
Government, for copyright infringement of the acronym 'FAA', of which it
holds it is the sole legal owner. Arguments that f-AA and FAA were
substantially different were deemed legally insubstantial. While it pains me
to recognize the clear injustice of the agency of the government ostensibly
charged with encouraging aviation, I have concluded that I have no real
choice but to comply with the order.
Therefore, I am requesting all list members participate in a contest to
rename the group formerly known as the fearless Aeronca Aviators to
something which is unlikely to infringe copyrighted names or offend in any
way. In my private conversations with some of you over the past several
days, the following names have been suggested. Please feel free to vote for
your favorite name or add your own suggestions.
TSA: True Society of Aeronca
FDA: Fearless Die-hard Aviators
RIAA: Relatively Interesting Aeronca Aviators
MPAA: Multiple People Adore Aeroncas
CIA: Crazies In Aeroncas
MMO: Marvellously Mysterious Organization
Oafs: Old Aeronca Flyers Society
OFs: Originally Fearless Society
Farts: Flying Aeroncas Reduces Tension in Seniors
Cessna: Computer-Enabled Secret Society Needing Aeroncas
Piper: People In Places Electronically Related
Champs: Chief-Hating Aeronca Members Publish Slop
Chief: Climb Higher In Excellent Flyers
